DESIGN WORK STARTS ON NEW LEAMINGTON SPA GAMING STUDIOS

Leamington looks to its booming ‘Silicon Spa’ video game industry and burgeoning Creative Quarter to help provide the town with a true 21st century vision.

MDG are proud to be working with McCarthys and Sumo Group on the CAT B fit out of the former House of Frazer building in Leamington Spa. The ex-House of Fraser site, often dubbed the “jewel in the crown” of shopping in Leamington, is one of the town centres largest buildings at 60,000sqft. The original building formed part of the construction of The Parade between Regent Street and Warwick Street in 1808. Today, following the major strip out we can clearly identify the original narrow frontage of the Georgian era in contrast to the more modern open plan construction to the rear. Original iron columns and trussed roofs of the original are to form part of the reinvented scheme.

The new Gaming HQ will amalgamate the various divisions of Sumo group, housing them in bespoke, state of the art studios each of which will represent the ethos and idiosyncrasies of each distinctive brand. The plans will incorporate a central communal space around which the studios will radiate. Branding is paramount and the new décor will be reflective of the vibrant gaming industry, coupled with a large amount of fun injected into the proposals.

We can’t wait to see the completed project which will help rejuvenate this impressive Leamington landmark and maintain an important architectural asset for the town.
