MDG Architects are delighted to be acting as Building Regulations Principal Designer on a new 25,000 sq.ft of Cat B fit-out for Squire Patton Boggs, one of the world’s largest and most influential law firms, for their new Birmingham Offices.
Their new offices at 19 Cornwall Street, will include a diverse range of formal and informal office environments, meeting spaces, client hospitality areas, and welfare facilities around a shared multi-use atrium and reception.
Pushing the boundaries of retaining an open plan environment wherever possible, whilst meeting current fire regulations, was key to the design concept; and retaining stripped exposed concrete surfaces and services to compliment the newer stylish interior wall and floor finishes.
Having been appointed in 2025, MDG Architects have worked alongside the client’s consultant team and the Registered Building Control Approver to plan, manage and monitor this exciting scheme for compliance and changes during the design and delivery of the project.
Our role has required us undertake competency assessments and reviews of the duty holders, and ensure all duty holders collaborate with each other to ensure all designers fulfil their duties, all as part of our BRPD appointment
We are looking forward to the completion of this exciting project in April 2026.
