NEW MULTI-FRANCHISE SHOWROOM READY FOR SITE

MDG Architects are delighted to announce our proposals for the new Toomey Chelmsford have been awarded to a successful contractor to deliver on site. MDG have been involved in the scheme since concept stage and have worked alongside the client delivery team, and stakeholders, to develop the proposals to meet budget and site constraints.

The project saw MDG Architects develop designs to convert and modernise a former industrial builder’s merchants shed, into a new car automotive dealership, with aftersales workshop and Class IV / VII MOT. The proposals will provide three contemporary showrooms for Hyundai, Renault and Dacia, as well as emerging brands Jaecoo and Omoda.

In addition to extending, and sustainably repurposing the existing structure into circa 1,750m2 (18,300sqft) of modern retail space, the development will include valet facilities and EV charging facilities for customers and existing brand users. The designs are also future proofed to accommodate the anticipated uptake of EV vehicles within the repurposed external sales and display areas.

Unique to this development; Jaecoo and Omoda are able to trade from a temporary showroom facility in the proposed forecourt throughout the building works, allowing the brands to decant into their permanent showroom on completion.
